Hypercom S8 Terminal
Essential optimum PIN pad security is provided with the handheld Hypercom S8 to protect against debit card fraud. Two key management options are supported by the S8: "Master Working Key" and "DUKPT (Derived Unique Key Per Transaction)". The S8 is compatible with all of the Hypercom T7 family of terminals.
By using a Hypercom adapter, the Hypercom S8 offers full-featured cost-effective debit transaction support easily connecting with all other Hypercom terminals, ECRs (Electronic Cash Registers), and/or third party POS systems. Connecting multiple S8 PIN Pads to a LAN is as simple as using a NAC (Network Access Controller) or a Hypercom LAN controller.\
Four programmable functions keys allow for simplified operations. The Hypercom S8 complies with international payment scheme specifications and security standards. Easy to read, ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the customer's hand, the Hypercom S8 is globally adopted.
Within the completely sealed housing and impact-resistant construction, the complete microprocessor program code is within a single microcontroller chip. Plus, a microswitch detects tampering.

PIN pads provide an extra layer of security against card fraud. In fact they're so effective that regulatory bodies in the United Kingdom will require their use with all POS terminals beginning 01 January 2005.
Hypercom® S8 PIN Pads deliver cost-effective, full-feature debit transaction support and connect easily with all Hypercom terminals, electronic cash registers (ECRs) or third-party POS systems using a Hypercom adapter. Multiple S8 PIN Pads can be connected to a LAN using a Hypercom LAN controller or Network Access Controller (NAC).
